It’s finally PumpkinFest weekend in Havana well it was….
It is starting to feel a little more like fall, downtown is getting ready, and Saturday is going to be a busy one around town, weather permitting.
Of course, PumpkinFest is the big event, but there are a few other things happening this weekend and into next week that are worth putting on the calendar.
Saturday… It’s PumpkinFest
The 26th Annual Havana PumpkinFest is rescheduled for Saturday, October 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
If you’ve been around Havana for a while, you already know this is one of those days when the whole town comes alive.
There will be more than 100 vendors, food, shopping, live entertainment, children’s activities, pumpkin painting, a pie-eating contest, costume contests and plenty of fall decorations and pumpkins throughout downtown.
It’s also a great chance to support the local businesses, artists, makers and food vendors who make events like this possible.
So grab the family, invite some friends and come spend a few hours downtown. You can find the full PumpkinFest information through Havana Main Street.
Need More Pumpkins?
If PumpkinFest gets you in the fall spirit and you still need a pumpkin for the front porch, Donalson Diesel also has a pumpkin patch going on Saturday from 10am-4pm
It’s another local stop to add to your Saturday plans… especially if you’re looking for something to do with the kids.
Friday Night at Burned Beard
The weekend gets started Friday night at Burned Beard Brewing with live music from Steven Ritter from 6-9 p.m.
Grab some dinner, have a beer and settle in for some live music before the big PumpkinFest day.
Then on Saturday night, Stephen Hafer takes the stage from 6-9 p.m.
So if you’re looking for somewhere to wind down after a full day downtown, Burned Beard has you covered both nights.
Urinetown Opens in Quincy
If you’re looking for something a little different this weekend, Quincy Music Theatre opens its latest production, Urinetown: The Musical, on Friday, October 9.
Yes… the name gets your attention.
The Tony Award-winning musical is a satirical comedy that takes aim at capitalism, bureaucracy, politics and just about everything else while somehow making public toilets the center of the story.
The show runs October 9-18, with performances Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m.
Looking Ahead… Havana Garden Club
And looking ahead to Monday, the Havana Garden Club will be meeting.
The Garden Club has been a big part of keeping Havana beautiful for decades, from downtown flowers and landscaping to community gardens and other projects around town.
One Busy Week in Havana
PumpkinFest may be the main attraction this weekend, but that’s the fun of living around here… there always seems to be something else going on.
Whether you’re spending Saturday wandering around downtown, picking out a pumpkin, catching some live music at Burned Beard or heading over to Quincy for a show, there’s plenty to do.
And if you see something we’ve missed, let us know.
