Havana This Week… PumpkinFest Gets a Second Shot

Well, Hurricane Isaias had other plans for last weekend, but Havana PumpkinFest isn’t going anywhere… it’s just taking a little extra time to get here!

With PumpkinFest and the Donalson Diesel Pumpkin Patch both rescheduled for this Saturday, October 17, there’s still plenty to look forward to around town. And there’s a little extra pumpkin tradition happening in Havana this year, too.

Here’s what’s happening around Havana this week…

Saturday, October 17… PumpkinFest Is Back On!

The 26th Annual Havana PumpkinFest is scheduled for this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Havana.

If you had plans to attend last weekend, go ahead and make new ones! PumpkinFest is one of those events that brings everybody together, with vendors, food, shopping, kids’ activities, entertainment and plenty of fall fun.

It’s also a great opportunity to support the small businesses, artists and makers who come out to make this event special. Let’s hope Mother Nature cooperates this time around!

A Pumpkin Tradition Returns to Havana

There’s another pumpkin story happening around town that we think is worth sharing.

Raven Warren, great-grandson of Mr. Jim Kellum, is selling pumpkins in Havana and bringing back a tradition his grandpa started many years ago.

It’s always nice to see a little piece of local history carry on through another generation. If you’re looking for a pumpkin for your porch or fall decorations, keep an eye out for Raven and help keep this Havana tradition going.

Donalson Diesel Pumpkin Patch… Saturday Only

The Donalson Diesel Pumpkin Patch has also been rescheduled for Saturday, October 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

If you’re looking to pick out a pumpkin, add this stop to your Saturday plans. With PumpkinFest happening downtown on the same day, it’ll be a good weekend to get out and enjoy a little fall fun around Havana.

Thursday Night at Burned Beard Brewing

You don’t have to wait until Saturday to get out and enjoy some live music.

Anna Wescoat will be playing live at Burned Beard Brewing in Quincy this Thursday night.

It’s a good excuse to get out for dinner, enjoy some music and kick off the weekend a little early.

Urinetown Is Playing at Quincy Music Theatre

Looking for something different to do? Urinetown: The Musical is currently on stage at Quincy Music Theatre.

Despite the unusual name, this Tony Award-winning musical is a comedy with plenty of satire and a story that takes an unexpected turn around a very unusual subject.

The production runs October 9–18, so this is the final weekend to catch the show. Check the theatre’s current schedule for performance times and ticket availability.

Here’s Hoping for a Great PumpkinFest Weekend

Last weekend didn’t go quite as planned, but that’s life in Florida during hurricane season. The good news is that we get another chance to enjoy PumpkinFest, visit the pumpkin patch and support the folks who make our community special.

And don’t forget about Raven Warren continuing his grandpa’s pumpkin-selling tradition… sometimes the little local stories are just as special as the big events.

What else is happening around Havana this week? If we missed an event, fundraiser, yard sale, live music or something happening at a local business, let us know in the comments.

Share this with someone who needs a little fall fun in their weekend plans.

See you around town…
